DPMHS Drivers Should be Aware of Risks this April, and All Year Long
From the day students first begin learning to drive the importance of being focused and aware is emphasized. There are endless stories of teens getting distracted by their phones and ending up in disastrous accidents. To combat this, the California Highway Patrol and local police agencies will be putting extra attention on drivers.
April has been named Distracted Driving Awareness Month, so teens should be more careful in how they drive. Using a phone while on the road, or even just holding one, can be cause for a fine by the police. To avoid being part of one of the numerous accidents that occur daily in the country, students have to practice safe driving skills.
If even just one person loses focus while driving, the lives of many others are put in danger. The California Police Department wants to minimize risks this month and get people to adopt good habits that they’ll stick with even after the event ends. Phones or other distractions should always be put away while behind the wheel.
